Comparative clinical effectiveness and safety of super bioavailable itraconazole and conventional itraconazole in management of dermatophytosis: a retrospective data analysis

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> A newer itraconazole formulation i.e., super bioavailable has been launched recently in India which is claimed to overcome all the pharmacokinetic challenges faced with conventional itraconazole. The present retrospective data analysis was undertaken evaluate effectiveness and safety of comparison treatment dermatophytosis Indian patients.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> multi-centric, done at 12 dermatological centers across from July 2020 December 2020. Medical records patients dermatophytosis, who were prescribed either 50 mg twice daily for four weeks or 100 included study.<strong></strong></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> 56% (n=30) group achieved complete clearance their symptoms (cured) compared only 34% (n=17) this difference statistically significant (p=0.02). Significantly more lesions itraconazole-37 (69%) group-25 (49%) end 4 week therapy (p=0.04). total symptom score (∆TSS) (5.81) as (4.75) (p=0.09). Both well tolerated.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> From findings study, effective similar profile dermatophytosis.</p>
